First of all, thanks a lot whoever it is that correct these exercises, I'm fully prepared for any criticism and for correct any mistake I may have made.

Hello Kort! Congratulations on finishing lesson 2! I'll be critiquing your submission today.

Organic Arrows

Your arrows are looking mostly good! Aside from a few small errors like wobbly lines or lines not overlapping here, these demonstrate an understanding of the exercise. I especially like the long diagonal line on the second page - that one really looks like its coming toward the viewer.

Organic Forms with Contour Lines

Your contour ellipses look good, although I would have like to see more than just five on the page.

One important note on the contour curves would be to continue being mindful of varying their degrees - you did a good job of changing the degrees on your contour ellipses, but the contour curves were a little inconsistent in their degree shifts. Just something to keep in mind!

Texture Analysis

Hey, these look great! I could immediately tell it was bark on the second texture, and although I couldn't tell what the third one was at a glance, it looks consistent and your gradients change from dark to light very well. Great job!

Dissections

These also look great. You mostly stuck to only drawing cast shadows, but there were a few places (like in your brick wall, leaves, and wool) that you drew form outlines. It can be difficult to draw recognizable textures sticking to purely cast shadows (especially with only pure black and pure white), but next time you do this in your warm-ups try to refrain from drawing form outlines for the purposes of this exercise.

Form Intersections

Again, I would have liked to see a few more shapes here, but the ones that are present seem to intersect with each other well enough. I only saw minor errors here, you seem to understand how these objects interact in 3D space.

Organic Intersections

Other than the same note about having too few objects in the exercise (for my taste), your shadows seem to follow the form they are cast from, rather than curving around the surface they are being cast onto. See this note in the lesson.

I won't assign revisions, but I would reccomend that you work this exercise into your warm-ups, keeping in mind that the shadows should wrap around the form of the surface they are being cast on. Use the contour curves that are present to guide you.

Overall, I believe this submission demonstrates an understanding of the material presented and an adequate ability to execute on the ideas therein. Great work!

Thanks a lot for the correction! It was so useful :)

I will incorporate these exercises to my warm up for sure. Have a nice day!

Proko's Drawing Basics

Drawabox isn't the be-all, end-all of drawing fundamental education. Our approach prioritizes certain concepts over others, and while we believe it do so for good reasons, ultimately it doesn't appeal to everyone. If Drawabox simply doesn't work for you, give Proko's Drawing Basics course a try - at the very least, you'll probably find it to be a hell of a lot more fun.
