Hey there, I'll be handling your lesson 1 critique.

Starting off with your Lines section.

Your super imposed lines are looking well done, you don't suffer from excessive wobbling which shows you're making confident strokes. You do get more fraying in your longer and curved lines but that's to be expected and your consistency will improve with more mileage.

Once we get to the ghosted lines and planes exercises you continue showing a positive trend, your lines are looking straight, confident and you're accurately hitting your marks fairly consistently. Great work so far.

On to your Ellipses exercises.

I'm glad to see you're experimenting with shapes and sizes in this section, it will definitely aid you in building a strong understanding of how things behave in different scenarios. Your ellipse are looking quite strong so far, you manage to draw them with confidence so they aren't wobbling. One thing you may want to keep in mind when doing these exercises in the future is that you want your ellipses to be round as your first priority and accuracy will come with practice. I bring this up because even though you aren't dealing with too much wobbling or looseness you do have some spots where your ellipses start to square off rather then being totally round, I believe this is caused by you slowing down just a bit as you worry about keeping them within the boundaries you've created.

In the funnels exercise you do a good job of keeping your ellipses aligned and divided equally by the funnel's central minor axis. It's a tricky thing to accomplish and people often forget it's their goal when re-attempting this exercise as a warm up so just try to keep it in mind.

Lastly let's go over your Boxes.

Great job on the plotted perspective exercise.

In the rough perspective exercise you did a good job of keeping your horizontal lines parallel and your vertical lines perpendicular to the horizon line. Your correction lines end up in the area of the vanishing point in most cases which shows you have some grasp of perspective as well. The construction of boxes in 3D space seems to be your weak spot through this critique, but this is still a good start and the upcoming material will help a lot with working in 3D space.

The last 2 exercises are meant to be a challenge, so completing them is an achievement in itself.

Your attempt at the rotated boxes looks really cleanly done, you do struggle to achieve rotation in the corner sections but the fact you achieve any rotation at all at this point is great. Your boxes also look their strongest in this section (besides plotted where you can rely on a ruler) which I believe is due to you being able to use nearby boxes as a guide. Which is great, because it means you kept your boxes mostly evenly spaced and didn't have things fall apart in too many spots.

Once we get to the organic perspective exercise you show that you have an understanding of the idea that the further a box is from the viewer the smaller it gets. Your construction of boxes definitely suffers here as you mention because you're not comfortable working in 3D space and with placing vanishing points.

Overall though this is a strong start, you show that you understand the concepts being taught you just need a bit of guidance in terms of working in 3D space. So I'll be marking your lesson as complete and moving you on to the 250 box challenge where you'll gain access to the tools required to help you visualize the object your constructing as well as working with multiple sets of lines and their respective vanishing points.

Great work so far, and good luck in the box challenge.
