Hello Meedge, Congratulation! You make through all exercises. Here is my critique for all lesson 1's exercises:

Superimposed Lines: You did a decent job on this exercise. I noticed some of the lines are fraying at the starting point, which you need to be careful though. While it is fine to draw the lines fraying at the end for the first time, but when you do as a warm ups after you move on to another lessons, try to smooth out the line as well. I also noticed a bit of wobbly lines, especially on arch lines. Remember to use the ruler for the first line~

Ghosted Lines & Planes: You've done a good job on these. Make sure you don't repeat the lines and avoid wobbly lines, as I notice it on your ghosted lines exercise.

Tables of ellipses & Ellipses on Ghosted Planes & Funnels: The common mistake that I find in ellipses exercise section is you have drawn very VERY WOBBLY ellipses. As you may know the rule on drawing the lines in general, you need to put the confidency and smoothness at priority first, then the accuracy at last. I guess you are not very used to draw with shoulder. Here is the video for a reminder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_AdsK8x9Lw(https://) Also recap the whole ellipses lessons in general.

Boxes : You've done a great job at plotted perspective, rough perspective, rotated boxes & organic perspective! Just to remember the lines, as I previously mentioned the problem of it.

Next Steps:

1 page of superimposed lines : Just to smooth out the fraying lines at the end.

2 pages of Table of Ellipses

2 pages of Ellipses on Ghosted Planes

1 page of Funnels

1 page of Organic Perspective

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

I shift in and out of understanding how firm i need to hold my pen, how to use my whole arm and how firm and fast i move on the paper so its a bit inconsistent in some parts with ellipses where i wasnt holding tight enough and my hand will spasm randomly or be too shaky but im slowly learning.

Great job! I can see some improvements with your revision. As long as you doing this exercise as warm-ups after this lesson, you will gradually become more confident when using your whole arm, especially with ellipses.

Next Steps:

You can move on to the 250 boxes challenge. Keep up the good work ya~

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
