Lesson 1 homework
Hey there, Jana here ~ I will be reviewing your homework, but first of all congratulations on finishing Lesson 1, it's an amazing accomplishment and I hope you had a great time following the course so far!
Superimposed Lines, Ghosted Lines & Ghosted Planes:
For the Superimposed Lines, I can notice fraying on both sides and some wobbliness, but it can be corrected by taking the time before placing the pen down in the correct location and prioritizing confidence over accuracy. It's clear that your wobbliness completely went away once you've been introduced to the ghosting method, both in the Ghosted Lines and the Ghosted Planes! Really good job there.
One minor note for the Ghosted Planes: we should not attempt to redo the line if the first one is off and one plane is missing a center line.
Table of Ellipses, Ellipses in Planes & Funnels:
Very nice tables here and in all exercises here you've proven a very solid understanding of the assignment and the core goals of the exercises have been achieved. But in your pages, most of the lines are wobbly and unevenly shaped.
This is a common issue that can be solved with more practice of the ghosting method, so I would like to encourage you to pay more attention to engaging your whole arm for it and you will see improvements here. Ellipses are tough, I promise that it gets easier in time. :D
Plotted Perspective, Rough Perspective, Rotated Boxes & Organic perspective:
In the rough perspective you haven't extended the lines to one of the boxes, but everything else looks great. The rotated boxes exercise is done very well too, but towards the utmost corner boxes I notice some hesitation in the ghosting method and attempting to redo the lines. For the organic perspective, I like that you're clearly negotiating your corners well and planning your lines properly, yet I can see a couple of lines that appear stopped mid-way, so try to keep in mind for the future that the ghosting method should be used for all the marks we make, including small lines and hatching!
Next Steps:
Add the Lesson 1 exercises to your warm-up pool and move on to the 250 boxes challenge.
Thank you for your review. I'll pay attention practice ghosting more and work on reducing the wobbliness.
As for that one box in the rough perspective exercise I have no idea how did I forget to extend those line on that box, lol
Stan Prokopenko's had been teaching figure drawing as far back as I can remember, even when I was just a regular student myself. It's safe to say that when it comes to figure drawing, his tutelage is among the best.
