Hello, this is my first time giving advice in lesson 2, hope I can be helpful.

ARROWS

I noticed that some of your lines are not so smooth, like you stopped halfway. You had some problem with keeping the edges of the ribbons flowing constantly with each other but I see that you tried to make them look like they're going further away from the viewer, that's nice. Do not use pencil, in the parts that are bending you used pencil next time do some hatching there.

Keep going fast and confident even if the line do not end as you wished, these kind of lines also requires to apply the ghosting method.

ELLIPSES AND CONTOUR LINES

The sausages are simple as the exercise asks and even though some of the axis do not cut it in two halves you correct this while drawing the ellipses, but the ellipses almost do not change in degree. When the sausages are going further or closer to the viewer the degree for the ellipse should change to keep the illusion of 3D space; and is the same for the contours, they are quite stiff, it might be because you drew them slowly and carefully but forgot that they are suppose to wrap around the sausage. You went through the ellipses twice for most of them but the lines for the them are a bit wobbly.

As everything here in DaB you need to apply the ghosting method before drawing the ellipses, I think you can try just drawing ellipses with different degrees and them move again to the sausages. The contour are bit tricky tbh so these might take some more time before you can draw them correctly.

TEXTURE ANALYSIS

Avoid leaving the little white spaces between the dark color, this can distract the viewer. I think the transition from dark to light looks good but if you see carefully you can notice that the example is a bit different from the one done in the right side, the silhouettes are different, this is something that will change as you practice more.

DISSECTIONS

For most of the dissections I think you focused more in the form of the texture than in the cast shadows. In some textures you break the silhouette of the sausage to add more of the texture, well done with this. There are texture that are wrapping around the sausages and others that look a bit flat.

FORM INTERSECTIONS

Here is more about making them look like they exist in the same space and less about doing the intersections correctly. There are no dramatic foreshortening and the perspective look well so you accomplished the main idea here.

ORGANIC INTERSECTIONS

They look well done, also your contour lines look better. Some of the cast shadow are not wrapping around the sausages so well, here you can be a bit more dramatic. You can use the contour lines to understand how the cast shadow is supposed to wrap around the form.

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
