Hello, I'll be taking a look at your lesson 1 homework today. Congrats on finishing the lesson after a quick glance this looks like a quality submissions. So starting with your superimposed lines these are looking very good. You have a very clear starting point and you are only getting minimal tapering until you started dealing with much longer lines which is pretty normal and more complex curves. Moving onto your ghosted lines and planes these are very nicely done. You are using the ghosting method very well. I'm seeing almost entirely smooth confident lines and your accuracy is already getting quite good. Keep up the good work here.
Going onto your ellipse tables these are running into a few more issues with maintaining a nice ellipse shape although I am seeing some very nice ellipses throughout these tables. Great job drawing through on these as well. Your ellipses in planes are looking pretty good with quite a big improvement by the second page. The ellipses in funnels page is okay although I am seeing a bit of an issue with wobble with regards to the minor axis line. Take a look at the lesson notes here. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/13/notaligned You also might want to try increasing the degree of the outer ellipses in the funnels a bit a more. Overall though a pretty good attempt.
Plotted perspective looks great nothing to say here. Your rough perspective boxes are having a few issues that I'm noticing. One is that you are slanting your horizontal lines quite a bit on these. Try and remember that when you are drawing boxes in one point perspective that all horizontal lines should be parallel to the horizon line. You are also getting some slanting on your verticals as well which should be straight up and down. Just something to keep in mind for future. Great job extending your boxes back here and checking your work.
Your rotated box exercise turned out pretty well. Nice job drawing through your boxes and keeping your gaps neat and consistent. You are running into a pretty common issue where you aren't fully rotating your boxes enough here. Instead you are just moving them back into perspective. Please take a look at the lesson notes here. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/notrotating Finally, your organic perspective exercise is a bit of a mixed bag. I like the line weight you added to the more forward boxes but you are having some real issues thinking about how boxes correctly converge when your vanishing points are in different spots. The good news is that you will get a lot of practice with this as you do the 250 box challenge. Overall this was a very good submission and I wish you luck with the 250 box challenge.
Ellipse Master Template
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
