Hello, I'll be critiquing your work, congrats on completing lesson 1.

First thing I'd like to get out of the way, it looks like you're working digitally. For anything submitted to Drawabox you are required to use a fineliner pen (even those cheap sharpie ultrafine pens work) and, y'know paper. I'll excuse it for now, just make sure for everything following this you submit is done traditionally with a fineliner.(It's ok to work digitally for your 50% rule, since in that time you can do whatever you want)

Lines

I noticed that there is fraying on both ends on some of your superimposed lines, do take care to place your pen in the same starting position each time before you make your mark.

Your ghosted lines are looking pretty good, I noticed very little arching. Although, on some lines there is some wobbliness, remember- first you ghost your mark, then execute smoothly and confidently using your shoulder.

Ellipses

I like that you've prioritized executing each ellipse with confidence, but in some cases they are going outside of the bounds you have set for them, and are even overlapping with each other. Your accuracy will improve over time, so I don't think there is much of a reason to worry about it.

Your ellipses in planes are also looking good, they are executed confidently, and are only escaping their bounds in some cases.

Your funnels are also looking good, all of the ellipses seem to be aligned with the minor axis, good job!

Boxes

It looks like in rough perspective that you extended their lines past the horizon or into the vanishing point. For this exercise (using a ruler) you only need to extend your lines to where they meet with the horizon.

Your rotated boxes look good, they are spaced apart, and continuously rotate away.

Your organic perspective boxes are looking good too. However, I noticed that when you tried to apply line weight, you tried to make the whole line darker. When you're adding line weight, you only want to darken the part of the line that is overlapping with the other form.

Once again, good job on completing lesson one, you'll have plenty of time to practice using tools such as line weight in the 250 box challenge.

Next Steps:

250 box challenge!

Hey, thank you very much for taking time to look over it!

I worked with a 0.5 fineliner on paper as suggested, and then scanned it :D https://imgur.com/a/kEDRqxF (this is th 3rd time i started lesson 1 so that's why there are a bunch of papers there, and also homework pages that weren't in this submission)

Thank you for the advice! Going forward, for warming up i should do some of the lesson 1 homeworks for a while, right?

Have a nice day :)

Ohhhh you used scans! I feel like an idiot, lol. And yes, you will want to use lesson one exercises as warm ups going forward.

Good luck!

Proko's Drawing Basics

Drawabox isn't the be-all, end-all of drawing fundamental education. Our approach prioritizes certain concepts over others, and while we believe it do so for good reasons, ultimately it doesn't appeal to everyone. If Drawabox simply doesn't work for you, give Proko's Drawing Basics course a try - at the very least, you'll probably find it to be a hell of a lot more fun.
