Welcome to drawabox, and congrats on completing Lesson 1. I’m TA Benj, and I’ll be taking a look at it for you.

Starting with your superimposed lines, they’re smooth, properly lined up at the start, and of a consistent trajectory. Your ghosted lines/planes are quite good, also. I’m especially pleased to see that you’re comfortable making them as long as they are – boldness is really valued in this course.

Moving on to your ellipses, the table of ellipses exercise is quite good. Your ellipses are smooth, rounded, and properly drawn through. Regarding their rotations, however, see if you can lift your pen off the page at the end of them. Currently, you’re flicking it, and that’s what’s giving your ellipses those tails. The ellipses in planes are more of the same (which is to say, save for that minor detail, they’re really well done!) The funnels, too, look solid – your ellipses here are snug, and properly cut into two equal, symmetrical halves.

The plotted perspective exercise looks clean.

The rough perspective exercise starts off strong, and improves nicely throughout the set. Your convergences, especially, are in a great place by the end. Linework is mostly good, too, save for the automatic reinforcing habit. Resist the urge to correct an incorrect line by redrawing it. Rather than fix your mistakes, all it does is make them easier to spot.

Nice work on the rotated boxes exercise. You’ve kept your boxes snug, and been able to use their neighboring edges as a guideline as a result, and, because of that, they rotate quite comfortably, too. Their far planes are, at times, a little flat, but we’ll be discussing that in more detail in the upcoming box challenge, so no need to stress about it right now.

The organic perspective exercise looks mostly good. Automatic reinforcing is an issue here, too, and especially so because a thick line reads as being close to us, and, in some of these frames, boxes that should, based on their size, be far off in the distance, read as not, which creates a contradiction. Nonetheless, aside from that, the exercise flows well, as per the size and foreshortening of your boxes, so you’re good to go.
