Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
11:17 AM, Friday November 17th 2023
Hey :)
Some things/questions I wanted to say:
-First of, for the superimposed lines I was using some fineliners that turned out to be not very good (a bit faint - I think they appear ok though in the scans), in the following exercises I started using another from another brand, I think it's a bit more clear.
-I'm not sure if I'm using my shoulder or my elbow when doing the exercises.
When I'm trying to very consiously using my shoulder, I feel like I'm far away from the paper and my accuracy is a lot more off than when I'm closer, but when I'm closer I don't know if the move is from the elbow or from the shoulder. Should I be further away actively using my shoulder?
-Some clarifications I need when I make "mistakes": All the exercises I submitted are the first tries attempting those as the lesson instructed me to, but I'm not sure what to do when making a line that's a bit off. eg in Rough Perspective or Organic Perspective, the line I make doesn't reach the point I wanted it to, do I treat the box as if it's in the shape I wanted it to (and so, the edge just doesn't reach the vertex I wanted), or in the shape it really is?
-I don't know if this is self-critique, but I wanted to say that God only knows what I was doing for the 3/4 of the Rotated Boxes exercise, only in the final 1/4 of the curved boxes did it click me what I meant to be doing.
-Finally, I just wanted to add that indeed the 50% rule is the most difficult part of the exercises, but I'm getting there, trying to draw as much as I can in my free time.
That's all, thanks for the lessons. Have a great day :)
