Congratulations on completing Lesson 1! I will be providing critique for your Lines, Ellipses and Boxes today.

Lines

Superimposed Lines: There is a little bit of wobble in some of your lines. Remember to draw smooth, confident lines.

Ghosted Lines: This exercise looks good. Some lines are arching a bit, but this is extremely minor.

Ghosted Planes: You have forgotten to take pictures of your Ghosted Planes before drawing ellipses in them. The planes look good, but you may have spaced them apart a bit too far.

Your lines in this section seem to be mostly straight and confident. Good job!

Ellipses

Table of Ellipses: This exercise looks good. You have kept your ellipses snugly spaced up against each other.

Ellipses in Planes: This exercise looks good as well.

Funnels: There are some errors here. You have not drawn the sides of some of the funnels to be long enough, and this resulted in some of the ellipses floating in mid-air, not touching the sides of any funnel.

You have correctly drawn through your ellipses twice on all the exercises in this section, which is good!

Boxes

Plotted Perspective: This exercise looks good. You have shaded the wrong side on some of the boxes (inconsistent), but this step was optional, so you do not need to redo this exercise.

Rough Perspective: It seems that on the first page, you have forgotten to apply correction lines to half of the boxes in the second window. You should go back and complete this part. Also, you have not fully drawn through your boxes on the second page (the back sides are faded), which is incorrect.

Rotated Boxes: You have forgotten to draw the boxes at the ends of the axes. Please read the directions carefully.

Organic Perspective: This exercise looks good, but you have forgotten the second page of it. Please upload this page or complete it if you have not.

Overall, you have done well! Please make the requested corrections before you move onto the next challenge.

Next Steps:

Correct the Rough Perspective exercise. Complete the second page of Organic Perspective.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
