Lesson 1 assignments. Any critique would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there,
congratulations on finishing lesson 1 and thanks for submitting, I'll be reviewing your homework. I hope my feedback helps you.
Superimposed lines
Your lines are smooth and confident and it looks like you drew from your shoulder. Good job here
ghosted lines
Your lines are really smooth and confident and quite straight. I realised you overshoot your lines quite a lot, so keep an eye on that, but otherwise good job.
ghosted planes
Try not to overshooot the lines so much, but exept for that you did good. I'd add this to your warmup to improve accuracy and stop overshooting.
tabels of ellipses
Nicely done. You drew smooth, confident ellipses from your ellbow, you did them twice and your spacing ist neat. It also looks like you ghosted them Maybe try varying the degree a little more. I'd also add this to your warmup.
ellipses in planes
Same as above, but make sure to stay inside the borders. I'd also add this to your warmup to further improve accuracy.
funnels
Nicely done. Your minor axis cuts your ellipses in half and you aligned them well.
plotted perspective
You obviously understood the concept, but did't do the exercise correct. You fogot to extend your lines to the vanishing point. Also make sure to not extend your horizontal and vertical lines! Please redo one 1 box of 5-6 boxes.
rough perspective
Your lines are a bit wobbly. Confidence always goes over accuracy in DaB. You also overshoot again. Other than that you did nicely: Your lines are parallel/perpendicular to the horizonline and your depth lines converge towards the vanishing point. I'd also add this to your warm up to further improve accuracy.
rotated boxes
Your boxes are neatly next to each other, you drew through them and rotated them well. Good job.
organic perspective
Your boxes are rotated in 3D and get slightly smaller the further back you go. Good job here as well.
Note for the warmups: You don't have to do all the "marked" exercises in every warm up. Do 2-3 in one warm up and in the next one switch them around and do others.
You did a really good job. Your lines are nice and you understood the concepts. Just make sure to read and follow the instructions next time and there will be nothing in your way.
Next Steps:
Please do 1/3 of a page of plotted perspective (1 box of 5-6 boxes) and reply with the link, so I can look at them again.
Your welcome :)
Your boxes look great, your free to do the 250 Box challenge now.

250 box challenge
don't forget about the 50% rule
These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
