250 Box Challenge
9:09 PM, Tuesday September 23rd 2025
Thanks for looking at this, I'm really pleased that I finished. All feedback welcome.
I'm aware of Promptathon, but I finished today and wanted to submit - I guess the timing is what it is XD
For the first 50, your lines are very clean overall. I only saw a few instances of arcing here and there, like in box 5, box 18, and box 46. Your convergences also show good accuracy, though I did see some lines pair off and converge towards two vanishing points, like box 10's red lines, box 22's green lines, and box 41's red lines.
For the next 50, your lines show improvement. I noticed fewer instances of arcing, though there were a few like in box 54, box 68, and box 95. Your convergences also show improvement, though I did see a few more instances of lines pairing off, like box 56's blue lines, box 84's red lines, and box 98's blue lines.
For the last 150, your lines continue to improve. I did see more arcing like in box 114, box 177, and box 221, but most instances were less dramatic. Still, since some arcing was present throughout the challenge, I recommend reviewing the information in this section and ensure that you are practicing the proper technique.
Your convergences also continue to improve. There are still instances of lines pairing off, box 109's blue lines, box 172's green lines, and box 241's red lines. In these boxes, the inner lines (green and orange in this diagram) diverge instead of converging at the vanishing point. Keeping in mind the angles of neighboring lines can help when planning the box's construction.
As an aside, box 40, box 52, and box 160 are missing some line extensions. I also saw some lines extended in the wrong direction, like: boxes 51, 53, and 54; box 68; box 91; and box 106. It's not a major issue since it didn't happen too often. Just be sure to double-check that your lines are extended correctly.
All said, you did well. I'm going to mark this challenge as complete.
Next Steps:
Continue on to Lesson 2, and add rotated boxes with line extensions in the style of the last 150 to your warm-up exercise pool.
These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
