Course Work from One Course Ago

  • These are a decent collection of pictures I drew via a course. The method provided some pretty exceptional results.

  • However, I am now on drawbox to get my "dues" payed: The above heavily relies off of making copies of your reference picture material with crosshatching and pencil, but what about pens that you cannot erase? What if you don't have a reference picture or want to only use it as an aid?

  • I would like to get into concept art design, but photographic realism can only take you so far in the realm of the imaginary. With Draw A Box the artistic playing field has just been turned into a serious uphill climb... Challenge accepted.

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
