250 Box Challenge

This thing took a really long time.
I'd really appreciate it if you took the time to drop a critique.
Thanks in advance
:)
Hi Imnase211, I've checked your submission!
Good job on completing the challenge, I can see improvement as you progressed, your boxes get bigger and you hit more convergences at the end. However, there is still room for improvement.
First of all, I'm seeing that you are having problems with the back corner, check this constructing method next time you are warming up with some boxes!
I'm seeing that your line quality it's not very consistent; I mainly see two issues related to this topic, wobbly lines, and a lot of lines that fall short when reaching other corners, this shows that you are prioritizing accuracy over confidence to the point that you are focusing so much on hitting the corner perfectly that, or you do it slowly and wobbly, or fall short. Obviously there are examples where you hit perfectly where you were supposed to, I don't want to take that from you. However, you need to remember that when we apply marks (including ellipses, lines, organic lines and line weight), we need to focus on making them as confident as we can, accuracy comes with time and practice, keeping this in mind, remember to always ghost your lines and take your time with it.
Another thing that I've noticed is that you haven't really applied line weight consistently through the challenge, you should have. Remember that it is a tool that we use to communicate things to the viewer, in this case, by outlining our boxes (with one subtle, confident, super imposed line) we are showing the viewer how the box is orientated.
I see that you are doing a lot of subtle converging boxes, and I can also see that in this cases you are having at least one pair of lines not converging at all or being parallel. Remember that there will never be parallel lines on a 3 point perspective box, so keep an eye on the relationships between lines and their converging points. Here is an extra diagram explaining how you can hit more convergences by observing the realtionships between lines.
I'm gonna mark this challenge as completed! Keep it up.
Next Steps:
Move on to lesson 2!
Thanks for critiquing my boxes mate. Appreciate it.
With the line quality, its been one hell of a ride. It wasn't until halfway through the exercise that i realized that i was in fact, subconsciously, using my elbow most of the time. Correcting that took a major chunk out of the benefit to ghosting I could have gotten from this.
Anyways, I thank you for taking the time for critiquing my work and I wish you the best on your artistic endeavours.
It was my pleasure! I'm glad you found my critique useful, now regarding line quality; it takes time and practice, so keep at it!
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
