Hi, I will correct your homework today.

Congratulations on finishing it!

And you are right, the second lesson is quite extensive. It's always good to do it patiently over several days.

Organic Arrows:

  • They are well drawn. You achieved a good sense of depth as well.

  • I like the application of line weight and shadow lines.

They give it more solidity and don't look rushed.

Organic shapes / Contour curves and ellipses:

  • Sausage shapes look good. They do not have strange deformations and look adequately simple.

  • The ellipses and contour curves are aligning to their axis and change degree according to their position. All this very well.

  • You may be drawing too many ellipses/curves. You are doing 5 in some shapes, when you could get better results with just a couple.

Drawing too many will tire you out, and will affect the quality of planning each one.

Focus on quality over quantity. Draw just a couple of well-planned ellipses/curves and it will be enough.

Texture study:

  • Texture and notes look good. You focus on shadows rather than shapes, this is adequate.

  • The transition from dark to light is spectacular as well. It doesn't look abrupt or incomplete.

Dissections:

  • Here your textures are properly rolled into the shape. You are also modifying the silhouettes well.

  • I see that you are working with textures composed of thin lines (like onion or rope).

In these cases it is good to reinforce with shadow those thin lines.

This way, we add depth and keep the texture from looking too flat.

Intersections of shapes:

  • Mainly, the shapes look solid. The process of drawing them and the application of line weight on their base are great.

  • The shapes look like they belong to the same scene, fortunately.

If you want to emphasize this effect more, you can draw your shapes with a shallower foreshortening. This way they are less likely to appear to be at very far distances.

Organic intersections:

  • The sausages are very well drawn.

Each one looks properly supported on top of the others; so there is a good solidity.

  • Now, the shadows you drew seem to stick very closely to the shape that makes them.

The shadows have to wrap around the shape in which they are cast. Similar to the textures in the dissection exercise.

This can be difficult to explain in concepts, so I'll leave an image to guide you: https://drawabox.com/lesson/2/9/shadows

Conclusion:

You have generally understood the entire lesson.

The things I have corrected or recommended you can practice in your warm-ups, preferably.

When you feel ready, move on to the next lesson!

Wow, I really appreciate it. Your feedback is really in-depth. I'll concentrate more on your notes.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
