Making sure i'm on the right path (250 Boxes challenge)

6:56 PM, Thursday March 13th 2025

Hello! I just recently started the 250 Box challenge and I want to make sure i'm on the right path

My question is since the first 50 boxes require plotting the VP visibly on the page this will naturally make the boxes really distorted so that some planes start looking triangular in nature with extreme distortion like my first page here (please ignore the first box that was a drunk/safe one) https://imgur.com/a/RT27Brw

So generally is it considered a success state like the Red lines on Box 4 where they all converge to a point regardless of them converging fast because they are so close to the box? Is that how I need to aim and strive for as a goal for the first 50 boxes?

Yes, having the VP closer to the box (as that part of the exercise requires to be artificially forced), it will lead to much more extreme distortion on the boxes, so don't worry about that.

As for the success state, technically yes, but I wouldn't think in binary terms. It's not about things being perfect (they never will be) and thus not requiring further consideration - it's about identifying how you might shift your approach for the next page to address the gap between where you are now, and that perfect state.

Also, keep in mind that our Discord Chat Server is where students would get confirmation that they're on the right track, based on the design of this community.

Thank you for the clarification and sorry if I posted my question in the wrong place. Will try to check the Discord chat server the next time I have another question regarding this kind of topic

Marco Bucci's Getting Started with Digital Painting

Marco Bucci's got a ton of great courses available on proko.com, including some of the best videos you can find on using colour and light. Since a lot of our students want to break into working with digital painting however, I thought this course in particular would be a great start to get into the weeds with how to navigate the confusing world of layers, brushes, and more.

This course highlights programs across the full spectrum of options, ranging from the current industry standard Adobe Photoshop, to the Free-and-Open-Source darling Krita, as well as the mobile favourite, Procreate.
