Lesson 4: Applying Construction to Insects and Arachnids
3:11 PM, Saturday December 11th 2021
Hello there,
I don't know if it helps with reviewing my homework but I've attached the main reference pictures for each creature I've drawn to the bottom of the imgur album, in hopes that it would. (but I'm also sorry for it, some of them are quite hideous looking critters ^^")
The following paragraphs stricken through will contain some "self-assessment" if you can call it that (I've been told that TAs try and not read these as to not "contaminate" their own critique, so I'm striking it out as a warning for you to not read it before you're done. I hope it's okay this way ^^")
so if you decide not to read any further at all that's totally okay and thank you in advance for critiquing my submission!
And also, wishing you happy winter holidays!
-
I have inconsistent line weight at places, I'm trying to get better at it but some of it might be bc of the fineliners I use (Faber Castell 0.5/F ones), I had to switch to a new one (of the same type) towards the second half of the exercises and it made it hard to make thin lines as the nib felt really different after the previous one, but it is probably just me needing to get more practice in. -
At the crab spider I made a wrong decision and only later I realized that I probably didn't simplify enough the part where the "hat" connects to the abdomen, plus the little blisters didn't turn out too hot either, looking back at it
(Last but not least, I hope the following won't come off as a rant as I'm just genuinely curious about it ^^")
I know that there are no deadlines on the exercises and everyone should take as much time as they need, but I've been wondering whether I take too long to finish lessons/exercises:
I've started working on lesson 4 back in mid July and been working towards finishing it daily 3-4-ish hours on weekdays (I've been applying the 50-50 rule most of the time too)
plus-minus 3 weeks of not making much progress bc of mild burnout and/or life stuff.
For the record, I don't necessarily mind taking this long with the exercises, but I feel like with a reasonable deadline I might get things done faster(?) but I'm not sure if it's a good idea or if it'd only hinder me quality wise
Thank you, if you've read this this far, and in advance for the critique once again!
(Don't feel obligated to answer to the previous paragraph; it's just me over thinking probably ^^")
