Lesson 3: Applying Construction to Plants
12:46 AM, Tuesday November 30th 2021
Thank you to whomever may critique this, have a wonderful day :) and keep going
Hi I will critique your work and try to provide a review on the basis of all the knowledge that I have gained on the subject and would request you to please review my lesson so that even I may proceed ahead.
Your leaves and arrows are totally alright, keep up the good work,I would recommend you to make bigger leaves(or maybe you are using a bigger paper so the leaves look small.) so that you are able to distinctly make out your lines and also draw the curves with your shoulder.Do not try to overuse line weight, use it only to establish hierarchy and use it only on specific sections.
You need some practice with stems. When drawing the ellipses.make sure to align them to with the minor axis and also try to visualise how the degree of each ellipse will change as the stame rotates in 3D spaceLook at thisand also instead of focusing too much on branching.try to make your stems better.
The plants are really good(It would have been awesome of you had also uploaded the reference images) If you can get the technical stuff and put things together It is great. Please just do not redraw the lines like onthis cactus.
I hope this vas valuable
Next Steps:
If you want you can do one page of branches and then move onto the next section.
I did not even think of providing the references too, I will keep that in mind in future lessons. Thank you for the critique I will absorb everything you said and do varying branches before moving on. Thank you for the critique. have a beautiful day, week, year/s :)
Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
