Hey JPHAGER2
Congrats on finishing the first lesson. I took a look at your work and here's what I noticed.
Lines
Your superimposed lines look good and well packed together, although arching is noticeable on your longer lines. The same happens with your ghosted lines. This might happen when you try to mix some motion from the elbow when drawing. Don't forget that the motion should come from the shoulder. Your ghosted planes exercise is well done and I can see some improvement on you line work.
Ellipses
Your ellipses are very good. They are well packed together and I can notice your confidence while drawing them. On some of the rounder ones, there is some wobbling, as it seems you were trying to make sure they fit the reserved space. Your ellipses on planes are also very nice. Again, good line work and, as it happened on the previous exercise, in some cases there's a little wobbling. It's important to prioritize confidence over accuracy at this point, as accuracy will come with time.
You did a good job on your funnels exercise, with the ellipses mostly aligned with the minor axis.
Boxes
Your rough perspective is good. The perspective lines are mostly converging, which is a good thing and you managed to keep the front plane aligned with the horizon line, with the horizontal lines parallel to it and the vertical lines perpendicular. Unfortunately, your line work here is not the best, as you started to draw over the same lines on several occasions. Avoid doing so. Ghost your lines and commit to the ghosting method.
Your rotated boxes look good, but you're missing the corner boxes.
Going on to your last exercise, the organic perspective, you managed draw a good flow from the smaller to the larger boxes, although you could certainly have overlapped some of the boxes and played with the line work to highlight which are in front and which are in the back. Your perspective here is very decent. The thing I'm most concerned about is that in these last exercises you started to go over the same lines, probably in order to try to correct them. Again, refrain from doing so. Not only your drawing will be messy, bt the person who is seeing your work doesn't really know which of the lines were the first to be drawn, so they can't know if you corrected them or did worse.
Overall I think you did a really good job here. Don't forget to use some of these exercises as warmup for the next lessons.
Next Steps:
250 boxes challenge.
