Lines: A good chunk of the superimposed lines are fraying on both ends, even some of the curved ones. Good job on some of the ghosted lines, but in some of the longer ones there's wobble. The accuracy is excusable but I recommend placing your pen properly on point A. Point B is not as important to hit but of course try more. Nice sketch of the Big Ben. It's a big piece and commendable but again there are a lot of wobbly lines. It would've probably helped you to make your outline with a ruler, and to apply less pressure in the structures that are further away. A lot of your planes' diagonals miss the center, but overall nice job with your freehand lines, the improvement is there!

Ellipses: All your ellipses in your planes are drawn twice over so that's good, though in a lot of them the second pass gets wobbly and distorted. This is more noticeable in your tables of ellipses and funnels. Some of your funnels aren't smooth, so if you have a compass or a round object, that should help you draw your ellipses better. Nice boat! Those kinds of boats are tough to draw.

Boxes: Solid plotted perspective. The wobbly lines returned in your rough perspective and it looks like there is some guessing, evidenced by some of the edges being curved. A solid rotated boxes, though! On your organic perspective there are some occasional moments where boxes get distorted, and you should try to avoid drawing over your lines multiple times, but your linework has improved and it does look like you're ghosting over your lines. Good job finishing Lesson 1!

Next Steps:

honestly I don't know what you should do next... the 250 box challenge? It'll help you with your box construction. Keep drawing ellipses and keep doing lines, you're improving well!

Thank you for posting your exercises. This was my first time giving feedback, so I'm happy it went well. Good luck and have fun! :)

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
