Hello and congrats on completing lesson one. I'll be taking a look at your submission today. So starting with your superimposed lines these are off to a decent start. You are keeping a clear starting point on these and are only getting significant tapering on your longer lines and curves. There is still a lot of room for improvement on these so keep up with practicing them during warmups. Your ghosted lines and planes turned out very well. You are doing a great job with the ghosting method and you are getting smooth confident line work with a high degree of accuracy. Good job.

Your table of ellipses needs quite a bit of work though. To start with you aren't really drawing through your ellipses. You did for some of them on the second page but you skipped it almost entirely on the first page. You also want to try and keep the same degree of ellipse in each section which is something you are trying to do in some cases but completely ignoring for others. While you work through these lessons you need to be drawing through every single ellipse you make no matter how big or small. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/11/step2 Your ellipses in planes are also having some issues. You are doing a better job drawing through your ellipses here but you are trying to be too accurate with your ellipse shape and it's deforming your ellipses and destroying their integrity. Please check the lesson notes here. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/deformed Right now your main focus is trying to get a smooth ellipse shape as accuracy is something that is more easily built up with mileage. You want to be able to get consistent smooth ellipse shapes and then you can start worrying more about accuracy. Your ellipses in funnels are also having lots of problems with them not aligning to the minor axis. On most of these they are tilted way off the minor axis so that is something you want to look out for. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/13/notaligned You are also still not consistently drawing through your ellipses. There is a lot of room for improvement with your ellipses so keep up with practicing them during your warmups.

Plotted perspective looks good nothing to mention here. Your rough perspective boxes turned out okay. You did a great job extending your lines back here to check your work. As you can see your estimation were quite off at times but that will get better with practice. I am noticing a lot more wobbly lines with these. This tends to happen on exercises like this where students have to start dealing with more spatial thinking and they start skipping steps like the ghosting method and/or fall back into drawing from the wrist. So make sure you are ghosting all of your lines even if they are short and that you are drawing with your shoulder.

Your rotated box exercise turned out pretty decently. Your linework here is better than your rough perspective boxes but I'm still seeing a bit of wobble on occasion so keep what I said in mind. You did a good job drawing through your boxes here and keeping your gaps narrow and consistent. However the reason your exercise didn't turn out the way it should is because you simply aren't rotating your boxes but instead moving them back into perspective. This is a very common mistake please check the lesson notes here. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/notrotating Good try though. This is a great exercise to tackle again once you finished the 250 box challenge to see how far you've come. Your organic box exercises is running into LOTS of issues with convergences which is perfectly normal at this stage and something you are going to be practicing a lot during the 250 box challenge. Your line work does seem to be improved here so good job on that front.

Overall this submission had some strong points as well as weak points. You showed a good deal of growth throughout these exercises but frankly the ellipses feel much more rushed than the rest so I'm going to have to do two more pages of ellipses which I've listed down below. Reread these homework lessons and try and follow the directions as carefully as possible. Once you get those submitted I'll mark this as complete and you can move onto the 250 box challenge.

Next Steps:

Your ellipses feel a bit rushed and you could use more practice on these so I want one more page of Table of Ellipses(Make sure you draw through all of your ellipses) and one more page Ellipses in Funnels(Draw through all of your ellipses and try and align them correctly to the minor axis)

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

i tried to redo the ellipses as you asked here they are https://imgur.com/a/PF0vud5

These are already looking better. You're drawing through all of your ellipses with intent and you are already starting to get a more smooth and consistent shape. You are still having some issues with your ellipses tilting off the minor axis in the funnels but it's not nearly as severe as it was. Keep working on it. I'm going to mark this as complete. Good luck with the 250 box challenge.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
