You've done fairly solid work so far, though you still have plenty of room to improve.

Lines

I notice quite a bit of wobble and arching in your lines as well as a tendency to try correcting them. Remember to ghost every stroke you make, and don't try correcting a stroke that didn't come out how you wanted it to; it's better to work with what you end up making instead of trying to correct it. You should also be sure to practice drawing from your shoulder, mainly by just making more of an effort to do so when you do any sort of drawing. It also helps to make bigger strokes that you end up needing to use your shoulder for.

Ellipses

Your ellipses are alright. They seem to be drawn confidently, and you're doing a solid job of keeping them in their bounds. That being said, when drawing through your ellipses, you should keep it to two or three times - preferably two. Drawing through your ellipses too much will make them less clear overall.

The ellipses are bound to the edges in the funnels exercise pretty well, but I think that you could have varied the degrees of those ellipses more. Aside from a small increase from the center in a couple of them, I notice no shift in degrees at all. Regardless of how the object in question is shaped, the degrees of the ellipse is going to change as you see it from different angles. I also notice that you did not connect the ellipses next to each other; there is quite a bit of space between most of them. The ellipses are supposed to be bundled together, with their edges connecting without overlapping.

Boxes

The boxes are fairly solid. Your rough perspective is alright, though some lines are not quite parallel or perpendicular to the horizon due to wobble and arching. These line issues also come up your organic perspective pages, and you also do not apply extra line-weight to areas of boxes that overlap; this is a practice that will help with clarity and will become important in the other lessons going forward.

Interestingly, your rotated boxes page is your strongest piece here. You do not rely on guess work, the boxes rotate well enough, and they are close to each other. My only criticism is that you did not use hatching to indicate the sides of the boxes that form the gaps, which would have helped to make the space between the boxes more apparent and improve readability.

Next Steps:

I personally believe that you should redo the funnels exercise. It is important to have those ellipses actually connect to each other and for you to have a decent number of ellipses in each funnel. Once you do your new funnels page, simply reply to this message with an image of the new page, and I will critique from there.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
