Hello hi,

this is my homework for lesson one, feedback always appreciated!

Had the most trouble with rotated boxes and organic perspective but I hope they suffice for now :D.

Hi! I think you did a great job with your exercises! I really struggled with the rotated boxes and rough perspective exercises as well. I suspect many of us aren't very used to drawing free-hand boxes in 3-point perspective. :) I know I definitely wasn't...

The main critique that I have of your work is that you'll want to keep working on drawing from your shoulder, even when doing the boxes! Your line quality is a bit shaky at times. I know you can do it based on your earlier exercises. It's just a lot harder when you're also focused on making sure the lines converge where you need them to. Take it slow and one line at a time. Easier said than done, of course!

But anyway, from my perspective you're in a good spot to continue onto the 250 box challenge! I hope it goes well for you!

Next Steps:

Keep working on your line quality, but otherwise, I'd say you're good to go for the 250 box challenge! I'm sure others will chime in with more feedback, too. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply!

You're absolutely correct on the critique of my line work. I did rush things with my last few homeworks and honestly I was a bit frustrated especially with the organic perspective exercise, but I intend to do better and keep a cool head from now on.

Starting the 250 box challenge today and I look forward to completing it.

Have a good day!

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
