Superimposed lines: Your lines start strong from the initial mark, which is good. There is a bit of fraying for the long lines but that is too be expected. Good start.

Ghosted lines: Lines are a bit wobbly, but it's not too much. A big thing I'm noticing is that your lines arc a little (they bend upwards and kind of peak in the middle before reaching the end). To avoid this, try to think about arcing in the other direction (downwards) when ghosting your lines. Think about it slightly but don't push it too much, this will help straighten out your lines. I had this same issue and this practice has helped me a ton.

Ghosted planes: While these are well done, the big issue here is that you drew static planes. You didn't really vary the lengths of the edges and draw a variety of planes like the assignment suggested. I won't tell you to do revisions, but I highly recommend doing this exercise as a warmup going forward.

Ellipses: You did a good job keeping the ellipses packed. Good job

Ellipses in Planes: There are several instances where your ellipses miss an edge and are fairly wobbly. I recommend doing this as a warmup going forward.

Funnels: Really neat and confident, but you are not changing the degrees of your ellipses much. I recommend adding this as a warmup as well.

Plotted Perspective: Great work. This exercise is pretty straightforward so I have not much to say.

Rough perspective: Solid first attempt. Nothing much to say because a lot of this will improve as you go forward + 250 box challenge.

Rotated boxes: Very good. Keep in mind that Drawabox tries to instill in you that each line should be carefully considered and that their are consequences for putting down said lines. We should not be correcting lines in this early stage of learning. I get it, rotated perspective is hard but try to keep this in mind. Also use the other boxes for reference to know how to structure the exercise.

Organic perspective: Your boxes here are definitely a step up from the rough perspective ones. Good job. Your linework could use a bit more work but again, 250 challenge will help.

Congrats on finishing lesson 1!

Next Steps:

250 box challenge.

Thank you so so much for the time and effort you put into my feedback. I would take all you've recommended and apply. Have an amazing February.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
