Do I have to start over again when returning to Drawabox?

I had gotten to the 250 box challenge before feeling like I needed to take a break from the course. I was going to get back to it sooner, but then I had to focus on personal matters instead. I've also been putting effort towards other art practices on my own during my time away. I was last active on here around February-March, I believe. Would I have to refresh my knowledge on Lessons 0-1 again before going back to the challenge? Any feedback is appreciated, thank you.

Hi REINALEYVA1999, I've passed through something similar, and I did started over again, I'm in the middle of the 250 Box Challenge right now, surprisingly, felt really great, so my honest suggestion is yes, I think you should start over, you'll probably see that will be very good to have a chance to get through all the Lessons again, with the kinda experience you've had before, it can be helpful to even improve or get even better, the chance to re-read the material can make you notice or pay attention to things that you've may passed through, I'm just telling my feedback based on my experience, hope that helps!

No, we don't require that students restart, although some do opt to do so, and we certainly encourage students to go and review the material they've completed already to ensure their recollection of it is solid. Since we get this question a lot on our discord chat server, we have a pinned message (which you can see a screenshot of here) which explains a general recommendation for how one might approach coming back to the course after some time away.

Below this point is mostly ads. Indie projects, and tool/course recommendations from us.
This section is reserved for low-cost advertising space for art related indie projects.
With how saturated the market is, it is tough for such projects to get eyes on their work.
By providing this section, we hope to help with that.

The recommendation below is an advertisement. Most of the links here are part of Amazon's affiliate program (unless otherwise stated), which helps support this website. It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something we've used ourselves, or know to be of impeccable quality. If you're interested, here is a full list.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

On the flipside, they tend to be on the cheaper side of things, so if you're just getting started (beginners tend to have poor pressure control), you're probably going to destroy a few pens - going cheaper in that case is not a bad idea.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
