Hey there! I'm Tora, I'll be going over your submission today :) So right into the critique, I'll break it down by sections:

Lines - Your superimposed lines are looking great! You've got the clean, crisp, confident lines down well, and there's a good amount of variety. Now, you seem to be missing your ghosted lines page. I see that in later exercises you have applied the concepts from ghosted lines, you've plotted your start/end points of your lines and they're fairly clean, so well done with that. When it comes to your ghosted planes, the lines themselves look well executed, but each plane is supposed to have diagonal and mid-point lines striking through the plane, like this. So 8 lines in total, whereas yours are missing the mid-point lines. Keep this in mind for the future.

Ellipses - Overall, your tables of ellipses looks good -- the ellipses are a tiny bit deformed, as are the ellipses in the ellipses in planes exercise. When it comes to ellipses in planes, you've misunderstood the exercise. You put more than one ellipse in each plane, and the ellipse doesn't touch every side of the plane. You were meant to have only one ellipse per plane, with the ellipse touching each of the 4 sides of the inside of the plane. See here and here. With this said, I'd recommend you redo the ellipses in planes exercise. Moving onto funnels, they're looking really good! I would note to try and keep your ellipses smooth as smoothness is your top priority, it is more important than accuracy. You can read more on that in the 'deformed' link I've provided earlier. :)

Boxes - Finally, boxes! I will say you've done a very good job with the rough perspective exercise. You demonstrated understanding of all the concepts, you've tried to keep your line quality up there, the extension is correct. Hitting all the marks, great job! When it comes to rotated boxes, they don't rotate quite properly but this is a very difficult exercise and you've done well. Finally, organic perspective. Overall, I'd say well done with this exercise as well. The only thing I could really note is that you can check out these: foreshortening and distortion, as quite a few of your boxes are either distorted or foreshortened, but that's okay.

All in all, great job with the exercises. Once again, I recommend you revisit ellipses in planes before moving on to the 250 boxes. :) Good luck!

Next Steps:

1 page of ellipses in planes, then 250 boxes challenge.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hi Tora,

Thanks for the critique! I just submitted my lesson 2 homework and realized I never replied with my revisions of the ellipses in planes exercise. Here it is: https://imgur.com/a/rwiw2cg.

Thanks again!

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
