Lesson 4: Applying Construction to Insects and Arachnids

Thanks a lot for your feedback in advance!!
I spotted a few things:
In the sausages exercise some of the contour lines are feeling a lot flatter.
Your legs need a lot of work. Drawing a shadow will help. Remember that these insects use these legs to stand on the ground.
I can see that as you progressed gradually the quality of the forms have improved.
I think that you can work on the line weights a little bit more. The line weights are way more consistent.
In some the the drawing when you are adding details. You are losing the depth of the drawing. The housefly has retained the depth. But you have lost those in cricket.
Notice in the legs of the spider you have added cross hatch that has made the legs way more flatter than the front legs. If those cross hatch would have followed the contour it would have been way more solid. I noticed it was in the intruction video but he put it for design purposes. Also the way you have aligned those legs are not seeming real.
Notice how you have presented the legs in the spider drawing. They are should good amount of depth. But you have lost it in other drawings.
Overall nice work. Always remember that these are for warmups. We are studying form of insects here. Hope these things will help.
Next Steps:
Onward to lesson 5.
Thank you for prompt and detailed response. I'll be sure to keep your suggestions in mind and try to improve on them. Again thank you for taking the time!
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
