Lesson 1
I generally really like what you've done so far...
In the first couple pages there's a little fraying on both ends in some lines...
Both in the ghosted lines and the planes there's some wobbly line, I would probably take a little more time before tracing them and be more confident in what you're doing...
The ellipses are quite good...
In the boxes part though... In general I would say tou could have done some more exercise in a page (like 3 each) and not one...
Anyway in the plotted one, you should have done everything with a ruler (not ghosted) and you're missing all the construction lines to the vanishing points...
in the other nothing to say except what I've said earlier (could have done a couple more per page)...
Lastly the rotating boxes... It's quite good, but you're missing the corners, they're quite difficult to do but need to be done... And I would not put so many lines of emphasis on each box (it looks a little messy in some point when the lines don't connect quite good in the corners)
Next Steps:
You should probably re-do the plotted boxes page (read carefully the instructions first)...
For the rough perspective ones, I would have done more but if you're sure you got the idea, leave as it is...
Lastly the rotating boxes... If you have time, I would re-do it, be sure to do he corners and not put too much lines of emphasis for a cleaner look
Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Will work more on the things you mentioned. Also I have done more pages of rough perspective it's just that I only uploaded these two pages.
Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.
The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
