Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

I have zero drawing experience besides a lightweight Design Sketching course 9 years ago… so a lot of these exercises were pretty tough! I actually went through all these exercises through ellipses twice, first with pencil to try it out then again officially once my pens arrived. I’m not learning to draw for any particular reason, so honestly the later lessons look pretty little intimidating… but so far I am enjoying the process and the lessons so we will see how it goes.
I did ghost all my lines and ellipses before drawing them, but the ellipses and lines still miss or overshoot quite a lot. (Even basic ellipses were still so rough that for Lesson 1-4, I just did simple ellipses on the first page without the dividing line.)
Question: For the Rotated Boxes exercise, I drew little dots as targets for each line. For the Organic Perspective exercise, I didn’t (I just ghosted where I would draw the line to an imaginary spot that seemed okay, then drew it). Should I be drawing the target dots for the 250 box exercise, and generally?
