Took a break… should I redo?

9:02 AM, Saturday June 11th 2022

I was doing the 250 box challenge but I had to stop at about 90 because of personal reasons and health issues for about four to five months. Should I continue the challenge or is the break too long that I have to start again from lesson 1?

I think if you've kept up with the warmups and understand the concepts you should continue until you finish the 250 box challenge. If you feel like you've forgotten everything I would re-do from lesson 1 just until you understand all the concepts and exercises again. However if you choose to do lesson 1 again you should just continue from where you left off on the box challenge, because the critique from submitting that will help you understand which areas you need to improve on.

Ultimately it's up to you to decide what you should do to get the most learning from these lessons and challenges.

Thank you for the reply. I decided to just restart lesson 1 while applying the critiques I got from the submission.

You don't have to start all over, but if you didn't draw at all in that time I recommend reviewing some of the material and doing some warm ups.

I think that by slightly rereading the lessons and lengthening your warm-up a bit you should be fine.

Doing it all over again will only lead to useless fatigue. And it will prevent you from spending that time on something more productive.

I could say that from experience, at least

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
