I just got done with the first few exercises of Lesson one, and my shoulder was hurting pretty badly throughout the process, is that normal at all, and is anyone else experiencing it.

There are different kinds of pain. If what you're describing is more similar to the pain of a workout at the gym - a dull throbbing - then it is likely normal. A normal sign that you should be heeding as a sign to take a break and rest, surely, but still normal. If however you feel any kind of sharp pain, then you should immediately stop, and if you can't identify a cause for it yourself, then that may be something you'd want to check with a physician about.
At the end of the day, you're engaging muscles in your shoulder that probably haven't been used a ton, and so yeah - it's gonna make you sore, so I wouldn't be too alarmed about that. Do however be sure to listen to your body, take breaks when it asks for them, and if there's anything that feels out of the ordinary, that may be something to check with a professional about.
Yeah that does make sense, thank you :::3
I too am experencing sholder discomfort. I have been drawing for about 7 months and untill these leasons, i never used my sholder. Gotta build thoes muscles !
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
