Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
9:51 AM, Monday May 22nd 2023
Hello,
This is my first time drawing.
Please Let me know If I did anything wrong.
Thank you.
Hello and welcome to Drawabox. Congratulations on completing lesson 1!
Lines:
Superimposed lines look good, just be sure that the starting point is the same for all of your lines.
There is some wobbliness, I can see it in ghosted planes. You also seem to be going past the second dot that you draw. Not a huge problem but just try to lift your pen/fineliner off of the page as soon as you hit the second dot. Also remember that you are looking for smoothness not accuracy.
Ghosted planes are pretty solid.
Ellipses:
Tables of ellipses are good, I like the variety of the ellipses, but remember that you need to draw threw them 2-3 times.
Ellipses in planes are good as well. they are confident and smooth, for the most part.
Funnels are hard but it seems like you have gotten a good grasp on them.
Boxes:
Overall, great job. I think you are clear to move onto the 250 box challenge. Good luck!a
Next Steps:
250 box challenge
Thank you for your critique!
I'll work on making my lines smoother.
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
