JEKETTEX DaB CheckUp

-linework looks good even on earlier pages

-box 46-50 are missing convergence check (image is way too compressed for me to read the note)

-if you're struggling with the back angle, don't distort your initial Y past 90° degrees, once you feel you've mastered that you can start experimenting

-hatching shows improvement

Overall a good submission, your line quality is remarkable from the start; not much issue there. The convergences do worry me a bit, particularly the back angle. Sometmes it's either converging too fast or diverging. I suggest you join the DaB discord server and ask for advice on how to get that back angle down correctly. After that you could try doing some 5-10 boxes before proceeding with the next lesson. A very strong submission and I hope you continue your DaB journey!

Next Steps:

Proceed with the next lesson, your submission is quite strong, but keep doing some boxes as warm ups before the next lesson just to make sure you got those convergences right.

Hi Slyx,

Thanks so much for the critique. I'll definitely check out the discord server for further advice and keep doing boxes until I get it right.

Cheers,

Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
