Hello!

As most of you can attest to, this challenge takes absolutely ages, so I'm quite thrilled with it being done. I'm not sure if I can see much of an improvement (I definitely feel more confident with my linework but I feel like thats it). I guess thats why having multiple sets of eyes for review is so important. I seem to be struggling with the 'draw through' lines the most, though I recall that to be just a symptom of the sum of all mistakes that came beforehand.

Also - Sorry about the first couple of pages being wet. I take it as a gentle reminder to not mix drawabox and cooking.

Cheers,

Jekettex

JEKETTEX DaB CheckUp

-linework looks good even on earlier pages

-box 46-50 are missing convergence check (image is way too compressed for me to read the note)

-if you're struggling with the back angle, don't distort your initial Y past 90° degrees, once you feel you've mastered that you can start experimenting

-hatching shows improvement

Overall a good submission, your line quality is remarkable from the start; not much issue there. The convergences do worry me a bit, particularly the back angle. Sometmes it's either converging too fast or diverging. I suggest you join the DaB discord server and ask for advice on how to get that back angle down correctly. After that you could try doing some 5-10 boxes before proceeding with the next lesson. A very strong submission and I hope you continue your DaB journey!

Next Steps:

Proceed with the next lesson, your submission is quite strong, but keep doing some boxes as warm ups before the next lesson just to make sure you got those convergences right.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Hi Slyx,

Thanks so much for the critique. I'll definitely check out the discord server for further advice and keep doing boxes until I get it right.

Cheers,

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
