Thank you for reviewing my exercises!

This was hard for me. I battled hard with doing the exercises as well as uploading the results. The rotated boxes were the worst: I repeatedly lost focus, forgot to ghost every line and felt completely disoriented in the end. I hope I at least finished it (honestly, I couldn't tell in the end).

Thanks again!

Hello, I've also recently completed my first lesson here. Now I am to review your work as drawabox also recommends I do that. If you could also review my work, that would be great! https://drawabox.com/community/submission/WUGDDX26

I can see that you've really taken on the rule of going for that fluid and confident line! You superimposed lines went from short to long ones pretty quickly. They are pretty straight, not too wobbly, nice. I tried to slowly go from short to longer and longer which allowed me to gain the confidence I needed to do the longest lines. The fact that you just went for it and tried the longer lines makes me proud as a fellow student! Confidence is key, so way to go! The gosted planes, you've missed the mark on most of them but some are straight on!

The table of ellipses: the ellipses are neatly arranged next to each other, I had a hard time making sure they were nicely drawn next to each other, you did a great job at that. I do see some selfcorrecting behaviour, remember that we shouldn't aim for accuracy. I suggest you ghost the ellips not more than 3 times and then simply go for it without drawing over it again. Same thing for the ellipses in planes. The lines in them got a little wobbly. I think there you were trying to avoid the mistakes given in the instructions, such as for example floating ellipses but you have now drawn slightly deformed ellipses.

You've given the rough perspective boxes a nice try, I can't really comment anything on that since getting all the converging lines right is extremely hard. Your rotated box exercise is also a nice try, you seem to have understood early on that you have to make sure the box really rotates. Even though not a perfect globe you have given quite some depth and rotation to the boxes. Please use your full page though, the smaller you draw the more challenging it can be. And completing challenges and failing teach us more than anything (having fun too ofcourse). The size of print paper isn't all that big of a format so don't go too small, use the entire page. On the organic rotated boxes exercise I see an improvement on you lines.

Keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Delphine

Next Steps:

If you haven't already, start the 250 challenge.

Thank you very much for your feedback and your kind words!

I wish you the best for your exercises!

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
