*The Warrior Birch is well known for being one of the most dangerous plants in southern Ethyria.

Yet, people seem to overlook how fierce and resilient its seedlings are:

The shell is just as hard as stone and in a most fascinating way, it seems to grow a weapon for self defense within its body, just close enough to the sprout so that it may be ready and armed as it germinate.

Further observations have revealed an incredible evolutionary trait of its roots that allowed us to further understand the abilities of its more advanced stages.

It was already well known that Warrior Birches could use its roots as means of locomotion but what we had long since overlooked was how apparently it can also use them as means of perception.

As we have just recently discovered, the seedlings have small holes at its base from which four bundles of roots act as antennae similar to those of insects.

Reacting to the smallest vibrations in the air and acting as the seedling, and perhaps even a fully grown Birch Warrior's eyes and ears.*

Really cool concept! I really like the fake language as well, any tips on drawing a convincing one?

Oh, thanks, and also not really

For this one I kind of scribbled randomly but I did try to make some repeating single symbols here and there to give the impression of the existence of grammar items like conjunctions or linkers and actual letters

So I guess my advice would be exactly that: try and repeat symbols and group of symbols here and there to make people think that it is an actual language and not just random scribbles

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.
Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
