Hello there congrats on finishing lesson 1 of drawabox now on to the critique

Lines

Your superimpossed lines look good and confident. I dont know if you used digital media to draw this but The lessons shoudl be done with paper and fineliners unless stated otherwise but you may have your reasons and I will critique the work I see before m. The ghosted lines look nice and confident too. So do the lines of the ghosted planes. I see you overshoot some ofthe lines, consider picking up the ben as you approach the end so you stop at the point you want. This is lesson one so its not a preblem now just keep that in mind for future warmups as a possible tactic.

Ellipses

The ellipses look nice and confident, in the table some do overlap and some do not touch the walls of the table. Although this should get better with more practice. The ghosted plane ellipses are also nice and confident. As well as the funnels they follow the lesson well. I do see some wobbles on some of your ellipses, remember to ghost them drawing from the shoulder, I mention this for repetition sake :)

Boxes

Plotted perspective is good as well as rough perspective. keep in mind here too that the vertical lines of the boxes are perpendicular to the horizon and the horizontal lines are paralell to the horizon

The rotated boxes too are volumous , tight knit and they rotate

Organic perspective is good too Overall its good( plot your lines here too , I see lines that are not connecting).

You can head on to the 250 box challenge and try to use fineliner pen and paper.

Next Steps:

ride into the sunset to awake again and face the 250 boxes, using these lesson 1 exercises as warmups, good luck :) You got this

Big thanks!!

I forgot to check notifications so I didn't see your feedbacks!

I hadn't realized I had to use pen and paper for the lessons until I finished the 250 boxes challenge and reach lesson 2. But I did use pencil for the 250 boxes challenge and I tried to abandon my ctrl+z key as I use digital tablet. I will try to not overshoot my lines as I practice more. Again thank you for your review, your suggestions are really useful.

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
