This week was pretty bad, motivation-wise. My sleep rhythm had gone upside-down, and trying to fix that is always an exhausting process. On top of that, I had to draw... Needless to say it took me more effort than usual to get myself to pick up my pencil.

Still, drew some good stuff. In my opinion, that is. I like the "scale" pit, the isometric thing with lots of stuff happening, the face with pointy teeth, and the woman doing the pose. I feel like I'm getting a little bit better, in general. Nice!

With these drawings, I have finished this sketchbook. It was one I bought in 2016... That makes it 8 years old! Holy moly. Anyways, the 50% drawings I've done consist of a third of the sketchbook. A third in 1.5 months! Two thirds in 8 years!

It makes me a little sad, honestly. All that time I spent on a lot of things, but never took anything seriously because I was afraid of... Well, a lot of things. This sketchbook reminds me of those times... I'm glad that I filled it, but honestly, I'm just relieved I can put it somewhere where I don't need to see it anymore. The earlier drawings have become a mess, anyway, because the graphite gets rubbed on the opposing page when the book is closed.

In the end, what I feel more strongly towards is what I'll be drawing in the next week of 50%. Probably ink, but maybe I'll try pixel art. Damn, I'm excited! A new age is upon us!

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
