Hi! Good job on completing Lesson 1. Here are a few notes that hopefully you find helpful:
Lines
In the superimposed lines there’s fraying on both ends in some of your lines. It’s okay if it frays at the end but your starting point should be as close to a dot (just make sure to place the pen carefully at the starting position and don’t rush).
Your lines are generally okay but they do tend to wobble - always ghost for as many times as you need and commit when executing the line.
Also your lines end with a dot - I assume that you slow down as your line comes close to the ending point. It’s okay if you under/overshoot. Try and lifting the pen of the page as you are close to the endpoint.
Ellipses
Don’t draw through your ellipses more that 3 times (2 is preferable). And, similar to your lines, make sure to ghost and than commit to the ellipse which will help you reduce the wobble.
Boxes
Generally good. Your box perspectives in the “organic perspective” part is a bit off, but don’t worry you;'ll have plenty of time to work on it on the 250 box challenge. Just make sure to not rush and think about how the box looks in 3D space.
I feel that your rotated boxes need a bit more work. You didn’t keep the endges close, a lot of the lines seem rushed and hence a lot of the boxes are not rotating properly. I suggest you repeat this part at least for half it.
Hope this helps.
Next Steps:
Please repeat the rotated boxes part at least for half of the "sphere". You can also start, if haven't already, on the 250 box challenge - it should really help you improve your feel for perspective. Good luck!
Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
