Hi there! Grats on finishing the box challenge, I can see improvement over the set, good job!

Both your convergences and line quality have improved, but I'll point out the issues I can find so you can keep improving:

First thing I notice is that you do mistakes when extending the lines. I'm pretty sure you're trying to extend the lines towards the way they converge, but this is not always the case. The lines on the boxes have to be always extended away from the viewer, and if the box is drawn incorrectly (which happens in the ones that you made the mistakes) then the extension can end up needing to be done in the way that the boxes diverge.

So, one trick to do this 100% correctly all the times (extending the lines away from the viewer), is to always extend the lines from the center of the initial Y, as I show here on one of your boxes. Be sure not to miss it on the next times you draw boxes, as It's important to apply the line extension method correctly.

You've done the boxes patiently, drawing them pretty big, and few per page, which is great, and you've applied the line extension method, though with mistakes to all the boxes.

So, in general good job overall, but as you've been having issues with the line extension method, (caused by divergences on your boxes), I want you to do 10 boxes more as you've been doing them. Make sure you apply the line extension method as I explained, away from the center of the Y, and that's it! Good luck and keep it up, you're almost there!

Next Steps:

10 more boxes applying the line extension method correctly.

Hi there, you still seem not to understand how to extend your lines. Like I said, always extend them away from the center of the initial Y. I corrected your new boxes so you can see what I'm talking about more clearly, but it's basically what I explained on the previous critique. As you still had mistakes on this, I'm going to ask you to do 10 more boxes to make sure you understand it.

First page.

Second page.

Next Steps:

10 more boxes, same as in the previous ones, make sure you're applying the line extension method correctly.

Good luck and keep it up!

I think you are looking at different Y's from the one i have marked :/ . They are marked with arrows & they are going away from the center of Y

Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
