Hi Jaaan, congrats on finishing Lesson 1.

Lines

  1. Your lines fray at only one end, which is great. This means you took patience and care in starting your line correctly. Accuracy will come with with time.

  2. In the ghosted lines exercise, your lines are drawn confidently with very little wobbling. This is great, it shows that you are using the ghosting method correctly and learning to draw from the shoulder. At this stage, it matters less that you miss the dots, because confidence should be prioritised over accuracy at the moment.

  3. In the ghosted planes exercise, you took care to place dots before drawing your lines. I can see that your line accuracy has visibly improved, compared to the beginning. Good job. I also like how much work you put into ensuring that your planes varied in size and orientation.

Ellipses

  1. You drew through your ellipses 2 or 3 times, which is good for building confidence and consistency.

  2. In the ellipse tables section, your ellipses consistently touch each other. However, some of your ellipses do not touch the bounds of your tables. You will improve at this as you get used to ghosting your ellipses. I see very little wobbling in your lines here, which is excellent. Remember that confidence and smoothness are prioritised over accuracy here. Some of your ellipses do not stay the same shape from one to the other either. This is something you will improve at over time.

  3. In the funnels section, your minor axes accurately bisect your ellipses into 2 symmetric halves. I can also see that you took care to vary the degree of your ellipses. Well done.

Boxes

  1. In the plotted perspective exercise, you drew your boxes cleanly and added line weight correctly to their silhouettes. Good job.

  2. In the rough perspectives exercise, you were careful to draw width lines parallel to the horizon and height lines perpendicular to the horizon. Your lines were ghosted confidently and with greater accuracy than before, which shows clear improvement. Some of your lines wobbled, but this will improve over time.

  3. In the rotated boxes exercise, you kept the corners between your boxes very close, which is excellent. However, some of the boxes in your outermost corners were rotated so severely that they were no longer visible. This is something you will improve on as you move into the 250 boxes challenge.

  4. In the organic perspectives exercise, you made good effort to vary the rotation and size of your boxes to create the illusion of depth, which is very good. I can see that you varied the size of your boxes more dramatically on the 2nd page too, which shows progress.

It is clear to me that you understood the exercises. You've showed improvement over the course of Lesson 1. I'll go ahead and mark this as complete, so you can move on with the 250 boxes exercise.
