This is definitely an improvement, and I'm very pleased with how you're mindful of how many of your forms exist in 3D space, and how segmentation, for example, wraps around the underlying structure.

Just a few things to keep in mind:

  • In your last drawing, you did have a bit of trouble keeping your sausages at a consistent width through their length (though in the rest you did a good job of this)

  • I'm noticing a tendency to have the points where the feet touch the ground being inconsistent. If you look at this one, you'll notice that the middle pair of legs both sit much closer to the viewer than the other two pairs.

  • You're not entirely consistent in applying the contour curve that reinforces the joint between sausage forms. I'm talking about the one demonstrated in the middle of this page. This is important, so make sure you do it in the future.

These are all things you will be applying throughout the next lesson, so I'm going to go ahead and mark this lesson as complete and allow you to continue to tackle them there.

Next Steps:

Move onto lesson 5.

This critique marks this lesson as complete.

Thank you!

I will keep that in mind and try to work on my consistency and the other notes you mentioned.

Have a great day!

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
