Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
12:23 AM, Saturday May 9th 2020
Hi there, I would appreciate some feedback on my homework. Thanks very much in advance!
Now I'm looking forward to doing the 250 Box Challenge! :)
You did a very good job on the lines section. In the ellipses in planes exercise, the ellipses are supposed to touch a little bit all 4 lines in a plane and even if it looks flat on the page there is still some perspective action there that I dont see in your homework but you'll improve your eye in time. In the rough perspective some lines are a bit wobbly.
In the rotated boxes and organic exercises you understood which plane is in front of the other ones so thats very good and important for future lessons. You did so good overall!
I would say continue to lesson 2 and do your best to draw from the shoulder. It takes time to build up muscle memory some days youll have very good lines some day not and it really holds on practice and patience.Good luck :)
Wow, I did not expect a critique to come in so soon. Thanks very much for having a look at my work. I appreciate the feedback and I'm practicing hard to draw from my shoulder. Your comment really motivates me. I'm doing the 250 Boxes Challenge before I move on to Lesson 2 and will remember your comments as I go through the exercises :)
You're very welcome Im so happy to hear my comment motivates you ^^
Hi Salty!
Good job completing lesson 1, but even tho the other critique said that you can move to lesson 2, I'll let you know that you must do the 250 box challenge before moving to that lesson.
Unfortunately I hadn't the chance to see this submission sooner, but if you already started lesson 2 I suggest you to pause it until you completed the challenge. Good luck!
EDIT
I didn't realize you actually answered the review with the correct next step. Nevermind then :D

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.
When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.
Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
