Lesson 2: Contour Lines, Texture and Construction

Hello,
Thank you so much for the time you spend on this :)
Best regards,
Iarina
hello, so after looking at your homework there are a couple things I would recommend - first, in your organic forms, just make sure you are choosing the degree of the ellipses strategically to insinuate the orientation of the form, also I dont think you need as many as you drew in, its more about adding value to the marks that you do make. Next, i would say you have room to make the shadows in your texture assignments a little bolder in order to make them seem more believable... especailly on the outer rim to further emphasize the shape of the form.
I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL!! Sorry my feedback is limited, I am too a beginner and there's plenty left for me to learn.
take care :)
Thank you so much!!
In addition to what was said here, I would like to also mention the arrows exercise. The spacing between portions of each arrow does not get smaller as the arrow gets further away; this is an important aspect of depicting perspective that you should keep in mind in the future. You will be revisiting the arrows exercise in lesson 3, so you can continue to refine them there.
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
