Congrats on completing Lesson 1! I'll review your work and see if you're ready to move on.

Lines: Your Superimposed Lines don't look too bad! There's a bit of fraying but that'll decrease in time with more practice. I suggest that you practice more curvy and wavy lines for more of a challenge. Ghosted Lines look good, but there is a bit of wobble in some of your lines. Always prioritize smooth, confident lines over accuracy as the quality of your lines is what's more important. On your Ghosted Planes, I noticed you repeated your lines a couple of times. We want to get into the habit of drawing a line and moving on no matter how far off it was, because we don't want to encourage messy line work.

Ellipses: On Tables of Ellipses, I don't think you did too bad. Same thing with lines, we want to prioritize smooth, confident ellipses over accuracy. Overall, you did well on this exercise. Some of your ellipses on Ellipses in Planes look weirdly shaped. Try drawing them at an angle to maintain the shape and evenness of the ellipse while hitting all four sides of the plane. You did great on Funnels! A couple of ellipses are very slightly misaligned, but I'm probably being a little nitpicky on that one.

Boxes: You did well following the instructions on Rough Perspective, but the one thing I will say is that you did repeat your lines again like you did on the previous lines exercises, and I already explained why we shouldn't do that so keep that in mind. You did pretty well on Rotated Boxes as well which is impressive since this is one of the hardest exercises in Lesson 1. You did a decent job on Organic Perspective. The boxes are spaced a little too far apart (ideally you want them to overlap) and you could have exaggerated the scale of the boxes as well.

You did really well on Lesson 1 and are ready to move on to the 250 Box Challenge. Come back to these exercises for warm ups in the future and good luck on the rest of Drawabox! :)

Next Steps:

Move on to the 250 Box Challenge.

I am so much thank you. I have to admit that i had being lazy and impatient at some point of the test.

I promise that i will fix that in the future to be better and better in latter exercises.

Thank you and wish you happiness.

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
