Hello! Dang! I'm actually really impressed by your Rotated boxes exercise......one thing I think you should work on is Super imposed line and Ghosted line exercises.....there I can see you have some space to improve.....also work on organic perspective exercise. THANK YOU FOR WORKING ON YOURSELF, KEEP GOING!!!^-^

Hello Dangandanpa! I'll be taking a look at your homework.

Lines

  • Superimposed Lines are great, you clearly prioritized confidence over accuracy, great job

  • The ghosted lines are awesome, you are nailing the confidence, starting at a point and ending on the other one. I couldn't tell if some of lines were "correction lines", as if you were trying to fix a mistake. If so, don't worry about making mistakes. It's more important you nail the confidence and do better at the next one as you realize a mistake, than to try to fix it.

  • The ghosted planes are beautiful! Watch out for wobbly lines though! Other than that, the lines are straight and accurate, it's excellent ^^

Ellipses

  • I see you had some interesting ideas on the placement of the ellipses on the tables exercise. But since the focus of the exercise is drawing confidently, with the ellipses snugged against each other, it'd be best to stick with simple patterns, and focus on keeping them close to each other. Most of your ellipses are confident and smooth and that's great! But remember to draw through them 2-3 times (preferably 2 times) as it's a requirement for the rest of the course as well.

  • The ellipses on planes are great! They're on the right place, drawn through, and are well oriented. Some of them seem wobbly though, so make sure to prioritize smoothness over accuracy.

  • On the funnels exercise, keep in mind that the ellipses must be symmetrically divided in 2 parts by the axis. Also remember to draw through your ellipses. Other than that, you did a good job on the smoothness of your ellipses!

Boxes

  • On the plotted perspective, even though the boxes themselves are pretty great, you should draw through them, even if they overlap, so you can see all the corners of the box. Also, separating the boxes on "vistas" is important to acknowledge each different perspective and horizon.

  • Its seems you've done only 1 page of the rough perspective exercise. You should go do one more page before moving on. The boxes that you did are great, and I love that you put the line weight and also studied the light sources, though shadows will be tackled on lesson 2. There's also the same problem as in the plotted perspective: you should fully draw all the lines of your boxes, even if they overlap. Also, I can't see some of your line extensions on the first vista, they're important to spot mistakes!

  • The rotated boxes look very convincing! You sure have a good eye for perspective. But the problem persists on not drawing through your boxes. Also, try not to repeat your lines when you make a mistake. Remember: own your mistakes!

  • On the organic perspective, the boxes are well positioned and consistent. One thing you should work on is keeping the line weight more confident and less frayed, also keeping in mind not to exaggerate it. Keep your lines confident and straight, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Other than that, the boxes follow an organic sense of perspective, good job on this one! And you started drawing through them, which is great!

Be sure to come back to that missing Rough Perspective exercise page before moving on. You did a great job! Cheers ^^

Next Steps:

1 more page of the rough perspective exercise, before moving on to the box challenge.

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
