Hello and congratulations on finishing lesson 1 of Dab. I'm Kat, and I'll be critiquing your work. Let's get started.

Starting off with lines

Your superimposed lines look well done. I see no fraying from the start of your lines, and I liked how you've added some nice curves.

Moving on ghosted lines, they also look well done. There isn't much to say here, but I like how nice and confident your lines are.

Ellipses in planes

Your lines are nicely done here. I see a good amount of arcing on your planes, and I like how you're striving to hit all borders of the planes.

Tables of ellipses

Your lines are nicely done here. I like how nice and well fit your ellipses are with each other.

Funnels

Your funnels are well done, there isn't much to say here.

Moving on to boxes

Your plotted perspective looks well done. One thing I'll recommend is to cross-hatch the front planes of your boxes.

Rough perspective

Your rough perspective looks good. I see you've extended your back corners correctly. One thing I'll recommend is to take a bit more time ghosting your lines. Some of your lines are a bit wobbly.

Rotated boxes

Your rotated boxes are nicely done, your boxes are nice and snug with each other.

And finally, organic perspective

There's a nice amount of rotations with a good amount of size variety and depth. You've done really well here, and you'll do even better on the 250-box challenge.

Overall, this was a strong submission. I had a hard time critiquing this one since there wasn't much to critique. I can clearly tell you're following the lesson 1 material as intended. I'll go ahead and mark this as complete.

Next Steps:

Add lesson 1 your pool of warm-ups and move on to the 250-box challenge

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Hi Kat,

Thank you very much for your review and your advices.

I'm already working on the 250 boxes challenge, it's really challenging but I really like it for now :)

Hi,

I've just signed up for official critique, with another account.

So I won't follow this thread anymore.

Thank you for your help ;)

Marco Bucci's Getting Started with Digital Painting

Marco Bucci's got a ton of great courses available on proko.com, including some of the best videos you can find on using colour and light. Since a lot of our students want to break into working with digital painting however, I thought this course in particular would be a great start to get into the weeds with how to navigate the confusing world of layers, brushes, and more.

This course highlights programs across the full spectrum of options, ranging from the current industry standard Adobe Photoshop, to the Free-and-Open-Source darling Krita, as well as the mobile favourite, Procreate.
