Here is my homework submission.

I hope the photos are clear.

I am a complete beginner and English is not my first language, so forgive me if there are grammatical errors.

I think I have done poorly the rotated boxes exercise and the ellipses exercises.

I also think I am ghosting lines in the wrong way.

I was tempted to grinding these exercises, but I didn't do it in the end, however, by the time I have finished these lessons I may consider doing it if I am not satisfied with the results.

Let me know what mistakes I made so that I may correct them, I am also opened towards any advice you want to give me.

Hi DariusJohnson,

I've checked your submission,

So, let's sart out by your lines. They start great at the beginning, but as you progress through the lesson they start lacking confidence. This is totally normal, as you get into boxes it's okay you put your focus on learning perspective. However, remember that a box it's just an organized group of lines, if the lines ain't confident, the box ain't confident. Strive to make every mark look confident over anything else, accuracy comes with time and practice. Also, take your time to ghost every line, don't try to rush learning.

Also, I don't really know how you can ghost your line in the wrnng way, if you have a doubt, check out the part of the lesson for ghosting lines, it should be all there.

Moving on to your ellipses, they look pretty good, it seems that you are trying to do confident round lines over getting it right, which again, it's what you have to do, they will get tighter with practice. One thing though, you are supposed to go through your ellipses only twice, more than that will make everything look messier.

Now, you have to remember that some of the exercises in this course, want you to fail, in order for you to start thinking about certain things that you didn't notice before. So the best advice that I can give you it's that perspective is something you understand the more time it passes and the more practice you put into it, so just push through it!

I'm gonna mark this lesson as completed! Keep it up.

Next Steps:

Now comes the 250 Box Challenge, It's not that hard, just scary. This challenge it's all about two things: constancy and determination. Don't try to rush through the challenge, take your time and try to make the most of every box. Try to do it regularly, if you can daily, go for it! I started it out by doing 10 boxes a day (5 boxes it's my personal best amount for each page, though don't do more than 6) and when I got the hang of it I did 15, and then continued like that up to the end. Remember, slow and steady.

Use all this boxs to practice your perspective! Don't get down if the firsts one don't come out great, just keep pushing through. You will se improvement.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Thank you for answering, I think the lack of confidence in drawing the box lines comes exactly from the focus I had at the time in drawing the box and not the line, I will try to view it as a collection of lines and not as an object.

My pleasure!

Sakura Pigma Microns

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
