Hey! I'm finally back after a long hiatus. Busy with school and all.

I um, misread the assignment and accidentally added detail to all my plant drawings... oops.

either way, thanks for taking the time to look at this.

The cactus looks good but not the pot. Use one ellipse at the top and one at the bottom then they are connected with too lines a simple cillinder. U have too many lines. Again one ellipse at the top and one at the bottom. If it comes out wrong take not and try not to repeat it don't go over it again and again.

Arrows

The first thing is you are not using strong confident lines In the arrows exercise. Some of your arrows are not closed in. Main point is use strong confident lines. They do have good motion in them.

Leaves

Some of them look rushed and U have not closed some of the leaves off. The leaf on the bottom left for example is not enclosed by which I mean the line connecting either sides does not they are cut off. You have gone over many lines instead of using just one confident one. In a cases where U are not making adding value to make it look closer. Overall it looks rushed, you should take your time and follow the lesson. Looking at the reference before making a new mark on the page.

Branches

Also looks rushed, some of your ellipses are not drawn through. As advised here:

https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/tablesofellipses

Also plan the trajectory of the lines of the branches.

Drawing labeled 2: king oyster mushrooms

The same problem of the beaches, not drawing tour elkopes through for example in the mushrooms some of the ellipses are not drawn to close at all

Drawing labeled 5

The shadow you drew on with the marker looks random, look at the reference and observe it to draw the shadows. Use the construction method throughout the plant, some parts you just guessed or there are no construction lines. It seems You drew it too small too, scale it up maybe to half a page, doubel it's size. Again use construction here don't rush it.

Overall :

Draw through your ellipses and ghost them

Plan the trajectory of the lines on the branches

And use confident lines with the ghosting method for lines

Looks at the lessons again for some of the exercises

And take your time,it is hard to have to plan almost every mark but if U feel overwhelmed take a break and come bake to it later.

:)

Next Steps:

Do the leaves and branches exercise again following it to a tee taking your time. As well as one plant.

Use the ghosting method

Draw through your ellipses

And plan the trajectory of the lines of your branches

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Here are my revisions.

Thank you for the critique. I really struggled with the plant drawing but i think it came out ok in the end.

Yes I will say work on your line work, plot all your lines draw through all ellipses. The second plant looks good but some leaves you again didn't finish. U also drew over lines in the branches and leaves. I think you can move on but please apply three critiques, do your warm-ups and don't rush. The only one learning is you if U rush you might not learn, take your time. Go to lesson 4. Don't repeat lines, plot all lines, draw through ellipses and everything I mentioned in the critique

Next Steps:

Lesson 4 insects and erachnids

Thank you so much! I'll try to pace myself more while drawing, but i lose patience really easily unfortunately.

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
