Your superimposed lines are quite well, no wobble lines, no freying at the starting point.

Your ghost lines and planes are quite nice.

Also your ellipses are full of confidence. However for the rule of DAB, we should draw our ellipses over 2-3 times, not a single line of it. Sorry for that!

Your table of ellipses should not overlapping and should be nudged with each other.

Your funnel of ellipses are symmetrical. Don't forget to repeat your ellipses 2 times, 3 times acceptable.

Your boxes are OK. They are seeing through boxes.

It's good to know you're taking time to learn the basics as they will apply to any kind of art you decide to do in the future. It's also good to make mistakes so you can learn from them. Right now I'll critique your work and see if you need to improve on anything.

Lines: Your Superimposed Lines look great! I like that you practiced some curvy and arching lines, too! Ghosted Lines look good as well! There's a little bit of wobble with some of your lines, but that'll improve over time. Just remember to prioritize confident lines over accuracy. Ghosted Planes look good, but I noticed you repeated a line multiple times on one of your planes. No matter how far off a line is you should never repeat it because in future drawings if you make a mistake and try to go over it multiple times to correct it, then you will make an unintended focal point. We have to learn to live with the lines that we make.

Ellipses: One thing I notice with the ellipses on all of your exercises is that you aren't drawing through them at least 2-3 times. Uncomfortable explains why we draw through them on this page https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/drawingthrough Your Tables of Ellipses look decent. You wanna make sure to draw through them 2-3 times and to draw them confidently. Ellipses in Planes look decent as well! If you're struggling to hit all sides of a plane then try drawing the ellipse at an angle, so you can hit all four sides without affecting the evenness and shape of the ellipse. Your Funnels look really good. I appreciate that you also tried changing the degrees of each ellipse.

Boxes: On Plotted Perspective, I see that you made scribbles in some of your boxes. In Drawabox, we never want to rely on chaotic and random linework for our drawings. We want to make sure that we take our time ghosting each line carefully and that each line we make serves a purpose. I have a feeling you rushed through Rough Perspective. You repeated your lines a lot and a lot of them look wobbly. I think it's best that you try this exercise again. This time, really take your time with ghosting each line and be confident with the lines that you make. DON'T constantly repeat your lines when they look off because once you've drawn them, you have to live with the results. You made a good attempt on Rotated Boxes. You have some errors with perspective and line quality, but this exercise is pretty difficult for first timers. On Organic Perspective, it's actually not necessary to draw through your boxes as it can be pretty difficult for right now. I think you followed the instructions well, but again your lines are looking wobbly and you're still repeating a lot of your lines.

Before moving on to the 250 Box Challenge, I think you should redo Rough Perspective and really be patient with ghosting and executing each line you make. And again, don't repeat your lines. Also, remember to draw through your ellipses 2-3 times.

I will use the critique template by Elodin because this is my first critique. First impression: really nice

Lines: your superimposed lines looks good, theres some fraying at the start but its only like couple, i can notice some wiggly lines from the start till your organic boxes, so you should probably keep that in mind for your 250 boxes, also remember to not repeat lines when you messed up your first line, I did this alot also in my rotated boxes because i didnt know you're not supposed to repeat lines. Other than that it looks great.

Ellipse: Your ellipse looks good but you didnt draw a lot of the ellipses twice which is not good if your following drawabox rules. Even though you've been drawing for years, i think you still can get a lot of benefit from practicing ellipse this way.

Boxes: Goddamn i love your rotated boxes, i dont have any feedback really, probably just the wiggly lines, and you draw through the boxes too in organic perspective, nice

Next Steps:

Of course you are ready for the 250 boxes

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
